Seleno tells his story how he came to the organ:
Jimmy Smith was the first jazz organist I heard as a kid growing up. His sound
was so unique and it inspired me to listen more. Doing that time I was a tenor
sax player. When I arrived in New York in the sixties I met Jack MacDuff along
with George Benson. Doing those days I was still playing tenor sax, performing
at the late Sugar Ray Robinson's Jazz Club here in Harlem. One night the regular
organist got drunk and we did not have an organ player and I started playing it
my self. Sugar Ray was winning a lot of fights during that time, and he suggested
I should continue on Hammond there is a lot to this story however I was influenced
by Jack Mac Duff.
