The name of this album lets you think of the northern country:
Canada, where Dennis lives. But it derives from the fact that
during the World War II, Hammond organs were built in Belleville,
Ontario, and were called "Northern-Hammonds".
The Keldie trio, with traditional instrumentation, shows that
good organ jazz is made not only in the USA, but also in the northern
neighborhood. Dennis appeared earlier on the Toronto sessions
album with many other Canadian organ players.
Dennis' organ play is in fact traditional, in the style of many
organ players of the 1960's who followed the paths of Jimmy Smith.
It's good solid jazz without surprises.
