Gayle Moran
Gayle (*1943 in Jackson, MI) is a pianist, keyboardist, and singer. She began playing the piano at the age of three, and started taking classical piano lessons at the age of six, and then studied classical piano performance at Seattle Pacific University and the University of Washington. Despite her parents' prohibition, she became interested in jazz and performed secretly. She sang in the touring production of Jesus Christ Superstar.

In 1973, on the recommendation of Chick Corea, Gayle became a member of John McLaughlin's reformed Mahavishnu Orchestra. She was involved in his albums Apocalypse (1974) and Visions of the Emerald Beyond (1975) and also toured with the group, including at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1974. From 1976 she worked with Chick Corea, whom she married. She was initially heard as a singer on Corea's albums The Leprechaun and My Spanish Heart. She then joined his band Return to Forever, was involved in the album Musicmagic (1977) and in the live album recorded on the tour. She was also later heard on Corea albums such as Mad Hatter, Secret Agent and Touchstone, most recently on the album Antidote by Chick Corea and the Spanish Heart Band, which she also presented on the world tour.

Gayle released her own album I Loved You Then… I Love You Now in 1979. In 1980 she performed in Nice with Stan Getz, Paul Horn, Mike Garson and Joe Farrell (Jazz Gala 1980). In 1986 she recorded the single The Way to Happiness with Leif Garrett. She was also involved in Ron Hubbard's production Space Jazz (1982) with Corea, Stanley Clarke and Nicky Hopkins. She can also be heard on recordings by David Sancious, Lionel Hampton (Chick & Lionel Live at Midem), Mark Isham (Castalia) and Carlos Santana (Blessings and Miracles). She won a Grammy in 2020 for the album Antidote.
