Eddie McKeta
Eddie is from Cleveland, OH. Starting with the accordion at age 9, he was
trained to play classical music. He picked up on the B-3 organ at age 20, when
he was introduced to Eddie Baccus and Winston Walls. That was the starting point
of McKeta's career as jazz organ player. Shortly after, Dave O'Rouke heard him
and offered him to play with Rouke's band.
A few years later, Eddie decided to go on the road with "show groups" opening for various acts such as Loe Rawls, The Letterman, and The Four Tops. Now, Eddie plays in Las Vegas as house player in the best hotels of the city. Eddie called the B-3 "the beast". "It's not playing, it's love making!" he used to say, and his motto was "Don't play for yourself, play for the people!" Eddie passed away on 29th March 2007. |
