Paweł Tomaszewski Paweł (* 1983 in Gostynin) is a pianist, composer, and arranger. He graduated from the Akademia Muzyczna in Katowice with honors in two faculties: piano and composition/arrangement.   Since 2007, he has been teaching at the Jazz Institute of the Karol Szymanowski in Katowice, where he conducts instrumental ensembles and classes in piano, composition and arrangement, big-band, jazz harmony, analysis of improvisation and styles. In 2013, he was awarded the degree of doctor of musical arts in the artistic discipline of instrumental studies, specializing in piano. He is currently working as an assistant professor at the same Academy.   Since his studies, he has been managing his own jazz band Paweł Tomaszewski Trio with Andrzej Swies (double bass) and Paweł Dobrowolski (drums). He also created other original ensembles: The Gentlemen (with Hammond organ), the Myrczek & Tomaszewski duo. He was the musical director of bands at cultural events such as Koryfeusz Muzyki Polskiej (2012), during the Laurel of Skills and Competence Awards Gala (2014).   He is a member of the Jarosław Smietana Quartet. He performed with this band, among others in Germany, Belgium, France, England, Scotland, Romania, Russia, Belarus, Lithuania, Georgia and Vietnam. In 2011, he took part in Sławomir Jaskulke's Chopin For 5 Grand Pianos project, with which he performed in Singapore and China. He is also a participant in the Grzegorz Nagórski Quartet and the Adam Baldych Imaginary Quartet.   He composes mainly for the needs of his original projects. As an arranger, he collaborated with Jarosław Smietana and the Kraków Philharmonic Orchestra. He has collaborated with such artists as: Maria Schneider, Nigel Kennedy, Rick Margitza, Eric Marienthal, Dean Brown, Larry Coryell, Mack Goldsbury, Z-Star, Xantone Blacq, Otto Williams, Troy Miller, Judy Bady, Ed Neumeister, Steve Logan, Yaron Stavi, Frank Parker, Josh Lawrence, Jacques Seguin, Brian Fentress, Michal Urbaniak, Urszula Dudziak, Krzesimir Debski, Sławomir Jaskulke, Karen Edwards, Jose Torres, Mieczysław Szczesniak, Mika Urbaniak, Bill Neal, Wojciech Karolak, Hanna Banaszecki, Zbigigki, Monika Brodka, Ryszard Rynkowski, Dorota Miskiewicz, Jorgos Skolias, Eryk Kulm, Marita Albán Juárez, Anna Gadt, Stanisław Fijalkowski. He participated in the recording of music for the films: Closer To The Moon and Closed Circuit. Since 2015, he has been a member of the ZPAV Academy Council, which awards the "Fryderyk" awards in the jazz music section.   from polmic.pl
