Robbie King Robinson
Robbie (*1939 in Saint Elizabeth) was a pianist and organist, playing reggae as
well as jazz. He moved to England in 1962 and recorded there his first single in
1963, entitled "Jonah". Robbie began to play the Hammond organ in 1969, having
been inspired by such musicians as Jimmy Smith, Jimmy McGriff, Jack McDuff and
Richard Groovy Holmes. Two jazz albums and one soul album were recorded. Never
having worldwide major success Robbie did tour Europe.
Robbie was featured playing piano on the music video "Crazy", by the band Hot House. He had his own label: Composition records and Composition music publishing. In the late 2000's Robbie decided to retire from music mainly due to ill health and old age. Robbie lost his life to a heart attack in 2014. from discogs.com and brixtonbuzz.com |
