Klaus Wunderlich
Klaus Wunderlich has been for long time a synonyme of the best entertainment on the Hammond with light music.
Only few people could realize Klaus to be a fantastic jazz organist: An album called "In the Miller mood"
presents samples of his swinging organ playing.
Klaus, who was born 1931 in the Saxonian city of Chemitz, is self taught. But still, he is grateful for the initial piano lessons which his parents made him take at the age of seven. Music was sheer pleasure to him. Klaus started his professional career with arranging and composing pieces for dance orchestras, went with a band to West Germany in 1951 and played his way through the country as an accordanist and pianist. Finally in 1955, he made friends with a Hammond organ and a little later, delivered the first disc with a sound that created a furore. Disc millionaire Wunderlich developed the combination of music with the technique of his electronic organ to a degree of perfection and maturity, which put him in the top rank of keyboard virtuosos.
Klaus died of cardiac arrest on 28 October 1997 at the age of 66 only.
