Thomas Wind
Thomas was born in Heidelberg/Germany in 1949. Since 1970, he plays piano and vibes
in various jazz and fusion groups. Thomas worked and recorded with the likes of
Mighty Flea Connors, Eddie Cleanhead Vinson and Bireli Lagrene (CD "17" on Island Records).
In 1994, he picked out the Hammond organ as his favorite instrument, and is playing the "beast"
almost exclusively since then.
Further, Thomas is founding member of the "Groove Merchants", a soul/jazz aggregation comprising some fine younger jazz musicians like Stefan Zimmermann (trumpet), Rainer Heute (saxes) and sometimes Australian trombone ace Adrian Mears. Also, he initiated the trio "Organizers", which accompanies the German saxophone legend Jochen Brauer. It is for the British singer Helena Paul that Thomas plays the piano and the organ. In the late 90's Thomas Wind formed the organ trio "SWS" with Michael Schwarz on drums and Neli Schmidkunz on guitar. |
