David Timm
Timm (* 1969) joined the St. Thomas Church Choir in Leipzig. From 1989 till
1995, he studied church music at the Leipzig College of Music. Also, he
attended to the master class for piano and completed a period of study at
the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
David won the first prize at the Weimar Piano Improvisation Competition in 1991, the first Bach Organ Improvisation Competition in Weimar in 1997, and, in 1997, the 5th International Organ Improvisation Competition in Schwäbisch Gmünd/Germany. In 1998, he was awarded the Leipzig Young Musicians' Grant. 1998, he was installed as lecturer in choral conducting at the College of Church Music in Halle (until 2002), as well as in organ improvisation at the College of Music and Theatre in Leipzig. In 1999, he succeeded Georg Chr. Biller as the conductor of the Leipziger Vocalensemble. Besides his ample activities in the classic music, David is committed as arranger for the LeipzigBigband (J.S. Bach) and for Bobby McFerrin. |
