Christian von der Goltz
Christian (*1959 in Bremen) is a jazz pianist and organist, composer and arranger.
He grew up in a musical family. At the age of five, he received classical piano lessons
in Würzburg with Lotte Kliebert, and later in Oslo/Morway with Liv Heiberg. At the age
of 14, he discovered jazz and devoted himself to jazz piano. In 1978, he played in his
first bands in Würzburg, including a duo and trio with Rudi Engel. In 1980, he moved to
Berlin to study painting with Marwan at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin.
After private lessons with Walter Norris, he played sessions and formed bands with, among others, Walter Gauchel, Grégoire Peters, Ulli Bartel, Michael Clifton, Kosta Lukács, and Ugonna Okegwo. In 1994, he formed a trio with Michael Griener and Stefan Weeke, which released its debut album, Sophie Said, on Mons Records in 1997. He also accompanies the singers Dotschy Reinhardt and Miriam Netti. His CvdG project includes trumpeter Martin Klingeberg, saxophonist Henrik Walsdorff, bass clarinetist Rudi Mahall, bassist Jan Roder, and drummer Kay Lübke. As a duo, he presented the crossover production Bach Goes to Town with Rolf Kühn at Birdland Neuburg. He can also be heard on albums with David Rose, Emanuele Cisi, and Vladimir Karparov. Between 1995 and 2018, Goltz worked as a piano lecturer at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar, and from 2011 as a jazz piano lecturer. from Wikipedia |
